December happenings

December 5th Callie had a gymnastics competition at the Y.  She was so excited about it.  We went to church then to Pizza Hut with both sets of Grandparents then off to the Y.  She got her hair braided and glitter sprayed.  It was a long wait until her turn.  She did great.  The pictures aren't so good.

Grandpa taking him to the concession stand was the highlight for Chase.  He stunk up his pants before the meet.  I smelled him and he announced poop but I couldn't do anything about it as I had left the diaper bag in the car so he had to wait until grandparents and dad showed up so I could go change him.  He fell asleep and slept on my lap throughout the competition which was nice.  He then ate chocolate with Grandpa thru the awards ceremony.
Callie's second top front tooth has been pretty loose for awhile.  The night before Thanksgiving while they were bathing and both wanted the same bottle, she won and it got some help.  It was then simply hanging so she got it out by herself before bed.  She now loves the song All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth :-)
Thursday the 9th was her school program.  Again she was so excited.  On the way there she said that she was so excited that she couldn't stop smiling.  The K did four songs and she knew them all by heart.  She preformed that day for the people in my office and for Mary and Paul, just getting ready for that evening.  It was cute and Chase did well during it too.  I came prepared with smarties in my purse:-)  Again no good pictures but this is her in her classroom beforehand.
We went on Saturday to the mall to see Santa.  Callie was excited and sat on his lap but wouldn't tell him what she wanted for Christmas.  She told me later that she just got nervous.  Chase loved to see him and the mickey and goofy that were around him but he wanted no part of sitting on his lap.  He kept going back to "see" him but wouldn't get close.  That day and ever since he says HoHo, HoHo byebye.
Mentioning the mickey that was there, he LOVES mickey but he calls him hotdog - for those of you not watching the disney channel all the time on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse they do the hotdog dance.  Shannon always has Callie and Chase doing the dance and from a very young age Chase associates it with Mickey so Mickey is hotdog.
Chase wants to take his diaper off all the time - not sure what to do with that.  I don't feel like he is really ready to potty train but we may have to give it a try a couple days when we are home over the holiday break.

See a trend?

Where Callie is, Chase is.  What Callie is doing, Chase is doing.  Especially in the mornings as we are getting ready to go.

And just cause I thought they were cute.......
Callie all snuggled up.
This is Chase's sleepy time requirements - passy, puppy, blanket, and usually a sippy cup of milk.  I'm afraid he may be "high maintenance" :-)

Cute

Callie playing put the horn on the unicorn at her party :-)
We are raising a well rounded child I guess.
This is all in the span of an hour or so.....play tractor /feed baby.

Chase has pacifiers when he sleeps....when he "finds" them at other times he is quite happy even though he knows he will have to give them up. Here he hit the jackpot and found two so both went into his mouth at once. He is usually good to put them up once you tell him to.
I cannot believe how Chase copies everything Callie does. If she is coloring then he colors, if she is laying down to color, he lays down to color. It is so cute and Callie eats it up. Chase refuses to take medicine and after a fever on Saturday evening getting Tylenol down him was impossible let alone the antibiotic he NEEDED to take. He would turn his head and run away crying when he saw you coming. It was so hard cause he would just spit it back out at you. So the second day Callie said let me try. Reluctantly I did - what did I really have to lose. He took it right down for her, no problem. Figuring it would not last each day I let her try and each day he would cry when he saw me with the meds but once Callie had them he would take them with a smile and not lose a drop! Unbelievable.

Halloween & Birthday!

Wednesday at gymnastics they had the October birthday girls stand on the big balance beam to sing to them and then they tossed them into the pit.

Friday was the school halloween parade and party. They walk a few blocks around town to a huge crowd and then back to classrooms for the party.
A side note we left from work/school, picked up Chase and then went to Joplin to pick Shannon up from dropping off our Escape to be worked on. Callie didn't want to change from her costume so I figured oh well. We went and did some shopping and then ate at Golden Corral (shannon loves it). Let me tell you go to a place primarily patronized by older people with a little girl in a cute halloween costume and you generate a lot of attention!

Callie has been set for a long time that her birthday party would be unicorn. I bid at the Festa silent action for a cake from a Pittsburg bakery so at least I didn't have to worry about that.

Chase would not leave his hood up for even long enough to get a picture. I didn't get any good ones of them really. We went to our next door neighbors and then to Mary and Pauls - both stops Callie got birthday presents as well as halloween candy - can't beat that. Then we went to the trunk or treat, then to a culd-a-sac neighborhood in Frontenac after which Chase was done. We ended up in Arma at Grandma Linda and Grandpa Johns.

Pumpkin Patch

Sunday afternoon Callie and Chase enjoyed the pumpkin patch! Callie had already been with her class but was ready to go again and take Chase. Shannon was home with a headache so it was just the three of us. Callie is so good to help me when it is just us - she really steps up and is a big girl / big sister. I think I say and think this constantly but I so love watching them have fun together. We petted the animals, went on the big slide (once was enough for Chase - it was not a having fun face), road the caterpillar, did the hay bail maze thing, played in the corn (forever), walked thru the corn maze and back again!

Giving

Callie loves to draw/color/make things to give to people to make them happy :-) Grandmas often get "mail" from her. So when she had the idea to make a "church" to give to the lady at church who hands the treats out after the puppet show I didn't pay much attention. But sure enough on Sunday morning she worked all morning by herself and this is what she brought to me to take to church. Unfortunately that lady was home with a sick kid so another lucky lady at church received this - it was the best I could do to avoid a major Callie meltdown when she wasn't there!

Pumpkin carving

Chase was NOT to be left out when Callie was carving a pumpkin with Daddy.
