Friends except when fighting

Callie and Chase do so well playing together and especially while I have been busy with Cole they have had some good times.  Until Callie doesn't want to play with Chase anymore and then Chase can't stand it and picks at her all the time.  Then they fight and he gets in trouble and it is a good time for all.  Some of the things they have been playing a lot together are dump trucks outside and jumping on our redneck trampoline.

Maternity Leave

This is a lot of rambling so sorry but I am quickly getting down what I can remember while I have a quick chance.

Cole was born on Wednesday and surprisingly did not have to go under lights like the other boys had so we could have him with us a lot more.  We had to stay until Friday but were given the go to leave early in the day and since they needed the room they got us out quicker than we figured.  We got home about 1 PM which gave me time to shower and get unpacked before Shannon went to pick up Callie from school and Chase from Mary's house.  Cole was pretty fussy that evening and my hormones and exhaustion led me to cry right along with him.  Callie did not like that so I controlled myself better from then on.  And Cole really has not been a fussy baby at all in the 8 weeks so far.

That first weekend was good in that everyone could be home but it was crazy.  The kids wanted to be involved in everything with Cole and yet were needy in their own right too.  Mom came down Saturday and then Mom and Dad for awhile on Sunday so that helped.

Shannon took a week off.  Then Mom came down and stayed when he went back to work for the next week.  She stayed Tues night to Friday and then Sunday night to Tuesday.

After that I had two weeks home with just Cole and I.  It was really nice.  We had a few days were we had to get out (dr appt for him, talent show for Callie, do a little at work a partial day, etc) but mostly we were home from 8-3 snuggling.

Then I had all three kids by myself on Wednesday when Cole was 4 weeks old.  I was nervous but it went really well.  I felt a little like I had run a marathon but was pleased with how well it went.  Thursday was my dr appt in Joplin so Linda watched the kids.  Then I had them again by myself on Friday.

After that it was Memorial weekend and Shannon was home too.

Shannon is taking a college class for the month of June from 10:30-12:30 and I went back to work on June 11th when Cole was 6.5 weeks old.  I am working only 3 days a week this summer until school starts.  We are juggling between us and mom and shannon's parents.  We are having Karlie come on tuesdays  and Hannah on Wednesdays to help out.  They are too young in my option to leave with all three kids but they either keep Cole while the big kids are at swim lessons or they just have the older kids and someone else has Cole.  Crazy but working so far and once Shannon is done with college July should be easier.

Sleeping:  We got a FP rock n play for him to sleep in beside our bed and I LOVE it!!! The first night home he slept and I set my alarm to wake him up to eat.  He never went back down.  The next night I woke up on his own to eat and never went back down.  But when he was up he was not screaming or anything, in fact would usually sleep on me but I couldn't get him to settle back down to sleep on his own.  The first week he usually sleep either the first half or second half of the night.  Since 8 or 9 days old he has done very well on sleeping a 3-4 hour stretch eating and going back down for a 2-3 hour stretch.  For me and my kids this is AWESOME.  Better than I can believe.  And when I get him down after 15 min or so he stays down.  The others might or might not be back up anytime.  During the day however he almost never slept any time at all on his own.  Made it hard to accomplish anything or nap but I said if he was sleeping that well at night I was not complaining.

At 8 weeks old today, his sleeping is still the same.  We have had a couple better stretches but they are random at best.  In fact his second stretch seems to be getting shorter.  He is just gassy lately and not eating as well.  Makes me nervous we had been doing so good.  Hopefully it is just him adjusting to not being with me all the time.  Either way it has been good so far.  Way better than any of the others.  Lets hope to continually doing better not going the other way!

Chase just wants to be on him all the time.  I don't know how many times we say gentle, back up, give him some room, get off him!  But he loves him and always wants to be right with him.

Callie as so into it at first but he wasn't too exciting after that.  She loved him but truly didn't pay a lot of attention as he didn't do much.  Now she is getting back into it as he is following things, smiling, and quieting down when she talks to him.  She is loving that and now he is a nice toy again!!!  She helps a lot in that she can watch Chase around him for me when I need to get something done.  Cole is good to hang out but I worry leaving him unattended with Chase around so if she is sitting there and I can unload dishes, etc.

First Bath

Callie was so excited to give Cole a bath but I was not too sure how it would go so I actually gave him his first bath when we were home alone.  He LOVED it!  And has continued to.  He is so relaxed and looks around.  Since the first one Callie and Chase have both usually helped.  Often I wash Callie and Chase in the bath and then when Callie gets out I put the baby tub inside the big tub with Chase and give Cole his bath.  Callie usually stays in the bathroom so it is a big party right now to give him a bath ;-)

Softball

Callie is in Coach Pitch this year.  We weren't sure what she would think of it but she was really excited after the first practice.  She even wanted to go to a camp that the HS coach and girls put on.  It was only 2 hours for 2 days but it helped her so so so very much.  The season was two games a week for 6 weeks but the first two weeks were before school was out and right before the dance recital so it was crazy.  We have 3 games left right now.  She is more into going some nights than others.  Chase at the ball park has been interesting.  We now take a backpack of toys and he plays with his loader and backhoe in the dirt/rocks a lot.  The first practice he was upset that he couldn't go out there but since he has been fine.  I will try to get some better photos before the season ends.

Day Out with Thomas

Chase had been counting down the days for over a month.  He was so excited.  We left Cole with Grandma Linda and Grandpa John.  It was interesting how it was totally different for Chase this year as compared to last year.  He is really growing up.  Callie loves all the activities too.  Playing with the trains, the magic show, the bounce houses and slide, mini golf, the petting zoo in addition to riding the train.

Bible School at "Kelsey's Church"

Callie loves going each year and now that her friend from school Makaylee is there along with Kelsey's niece Kallie she really loves it.  Kelsey was only able to be there a couple days this year but Callie didn't mind.
