January 28th we had a great kids day out. I love day trips like this! The kids had been counting down to it for a couple weeks. We got up and made breakfast to get everyone going and loaded up for KC. First stop was to park at Crown Center - you know sheltered us, the parking garage is the first experience :-) Thankfully my friend Kate had given me some directions on where to go, etc.
We ate at Fritz's Railroad Restaurant and the kids loved it. They were both so excited and fed off of each other. This was Callie's favorite of the day and well train lover Chase was loving it to.
Then we walked around a bit and headed to the Sprint Center for Sesame Street Live. Chase's count-down was to seeing elmo. Both kids enjoyed the show. It had enough singing and dancing to keep Callie entertained and Chase is just mesmerized by shows he likes right now. It was a 2:00 show so he got a little sleepy and cuddled some toward the end but still enjoyed it. Plus they got popcorn at intermission so that always helps. Chase was always worried about where Cookie Monster and/or Big Bird went when they weren't onstage. The kids also loved looking at the big tall buildings in downtown. The walk from the car to the Sprint Center was fun as they looked up at the buildings - so sheltered. Chase was wearing his Elmo shirt and at one point said Elmo is going to like my shirt.
Afterward we headed to Oak Park to let Callie use her coupons doing a build a bear (or dog in her case). Chase took his only nap of the day for 20 min on the ride over. On the way to the build a bear we passed the Disney Store and Chase saw Cars in the window. So once Callie had her dog completed and dressed we headed to the Disney Store for Chase. It was a long shopping trip for him. He ended up with Lightening McQueen and Mater and a buzz lightyear hat. He was a happy guy! He has played with Mater so much. And the hat, well I tried many other hats but he was having nothing but that one. He never keeps a hat on. This one he wears all the time!
We then rode the carousel in the mall.
I used some bonus money I had at Justice for Callie spring clothes and got little brother/big brother/big sister shirts for the kids at Gymboree.
And of course no kids day would be complete without a meal at McDonalds. We headed out of town and stopped to eat. They had a play area so if they ate they could go out there for awhile before we left. They ate :-) We went out into the play area for a couple minutes......turned into over an hour. They had so much fun together. There was one place that Chase had trouble with so Callie had to help him up. It was very fun and funny to watch. Who knew such free entertainment existed :-) And I never even thought to take my camera into McDonalds!
